What is a "Seer" tour?

A seer tour is a ghost story telling/walking tour conducted by a tour guide and a medium/psychic in the evening hours on the streets of a particular city. Normally, one does not go into the buildings, but typically you will be close enough to touch them. The tours are designed to retell the spiritual accounts and haunted history of different locations. All stories have been thoroughly researched and well documented. Some stories have even been reported by police officers. We take pride in our tours and we never embellish our paranormal stories. Everything is authentic!

Do we get to go inside the buildings?

No. Our tours are in the evenings, when most buildings are closed. Some buildings are privately owned and are never accessible to tour groups All About Charleston remains respectful of homeowners' privacy.

What about the graveyards?

No. Our tours do not allow entry into graveyards. However, all graveyards and cemeteries are free to the public during daylight hours. Beyond The Light feels that it is disrespectful to go into graveyards after dark to promote a tour.

What should I bring on the tour?

An OPEN MIND! We recommend that you bring a flashlight , umbrella (if necessary), good walking shoes, a camera, and again... an open mind!

Is smoking permitted on the tour?

We ask that you be considerate of others and do not smoke while on the tour.  If you "must" smoke, please do so away from the group and be discreet!

How do I book a tour?

Advanced purchase is required for all tours. We do this so that your "Frightseeing Seer Tour" does not get over crowded. Tickets are purchased through Zerve. Remember that the group limit is just 20 guests.

What is your ticket cancellation policy?

All sales are final and there are no refunds (see weather related cancellations below). But if you can't make your tour, please call us 24 hours prior to your scheduled tour and we will try our best to reschedule depending on availability. We cannot guarantee a spot in a future tour, however. See general FAQ for more detailed information.

What happens if it rains?

Bring an umbrella! Tours are conducted rain or shine. However, if the conditions are deemed hazardous or severe, we reserve the right to cancel the tour. We recommend dressing appropriately for the weather conditions. Cancellation of the tour will result in refunds or rescheduling.

Are there restrooms available during the walking tour?

The tour begins at A Way 2 Insights at 111 Church Street. Restrooms will be available at the shop. Restrooms are not available during the seer tour.

How will I recognize my tour guide?

All tour guides dress in historic period costume and carry lanterns

What is the pace of the walking tour?

All of our walking tours are leisurely paced. Unlike a lot of other tour companies, we don’t try and walk you to “death” during our tours.

Is the tour suitable for children?

The "Seer" tour is not your "tell a few ghost stories" tour!! This tour is designed for children 16 yrs. old and over. If you bring a child under 16, you will be asked to sign a waiver at the shop before the tour begins. We do not know your child nor do we know what could frighten him or her. Normally, when asked this question we refer to the parent. The parent is the best judge of what a child can handle. We like to say that our tours might provoke questions from your youngsters, but not nightmares. This tour is not recommended for young children as they often times get bored or frightened and can distract other guests.

Have you had any “ghostly experiences” on the tour?

Although we will not guarantee paranormal experiences, we have had many “ghostly experiences” on our tours. Please feel free to ask your tour guide and seer about their haunted experiences. We do not guarantee that you will see or "sense" a ghost on this tour. Any company that does this is simply lying!

Is the tour scary?

This is a "psychic"/guide led story telling tour, not a haunted house. Nothing is staged and no employees will jump out and try to scare you. If anything happens on your tour, it is truly paranormal in nature.

Are the tours wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our tours are completely wheelchair friendly. Please mention that you will be bringing a wheelchair when making reservations. Know that various sidewalks and streets in Charleston are very old and uneven. Please be prepared for this.

In what language are the tours conducted?

Currently, our tours are in English only.

Can I bring a camera?

We recommend bringing a camera/cellphone camera for all tours. Not only can you get great pictures of haunted historic buildings, you might just capture a ghost on film! If you do happen to capture "something" through photography, please send it to us! We would love to see your tour photos.

Can I bring a video camera?

Yes, we view video cameras the same as cameras and again, we encourage you to submit any videos showing an apparition!

Am I guaranteed to get pictures of ghosts on your tour?

No, there is no legitimate way to guarantee a picture of a ghost. We recommend you be wary of any company that promises paranormal pictures or experiences. It is simply not possible. Our seer will call ghost in or communicate with spirits that are present. However, taking their picture is a "shot in the dark" at best!. According to Donna Marsh, Founder of the Adsagsona Paranormal Society, "The spirits appear when and where THEY want to. We've yet to meet any that would just appear on command." We do not guarantee that you will see or "sense" a ghost on this tour. Any company that does this is simply lying!

Do you have group rates or special/private tours?

Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Special and private tours can also be arranged. Please call us directly at 843-469-4458 for more details.

How many people can you accommodate on your tours?

Our minimum number for any tour is 1 guest. Our maximum number is 20 guests. Due to Charleston city ordinances, we are not allowed to book a tour over 20 guests. We can book more than 20 guests as a larger group. This group will be divided however and we will use additional guides.
